This project has been supported through a City of Parramatta Council Community Grant.
Side By Side Advocacy receives funding from the Federal Government’s Department of Social Services.
Our Inclusive Governance Project researched ways that people with intellectual disability can be more meaningfully included on management committees and Boards.
We heard how:
• people with intellectual disability experience barriers to meaningful community and civic participation
• often miss out on opportunities to develop skills and confidence to participate in these and other civic roles.
The Parramatta Leadership Group was started so that people with intellectual disability will have more skills to speak up about what matters to them.
We want there to be increased community and civic involvement of people with intellectual disability.
We have funding to run the group until December 2024.
